Hidden in mall strips, plazas and under bridges across the Alamo City are gems of restaurants earning positive remarks from reviewers on Yelp.
Whether it be for their made-from-scratch food or lively decor, the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants racked up stars for a number of reasons — most of them in tune with the fact that they’re not a popular River Walk restaurant.
Some of the spots on the top of the list have been a best-kept secret for years, but others have only recently sprouted up with quiet openings — but loud flavor.
13. Gino’s Deli Stop N Buy 13210 Huebner Road
This isn’t the first time the deli has made a Yelp list. In early 2018, the restaurant made Yelp’s national list of Top 100 Places to Eat, being touted as the “best kept secret in San Antonio.”
